Biologist Blas Silva, C.B.P. 3450 (membership number of Peruvian Association of Chartered Biologists), is a distinguished professional with a long experience of more than 35 years in the field of scientific investigation about properties of medicinal plants and most important food of the Peruvian traditional medicine. Graduated from San Marcos National University, Dean of America, he presented his thesis in the Pharmacology Department of the Human Medicine Faculty San Fernando. He also performed as professor of Botanic, being one of the youngest and most enthusiastic professors of the time. He undertook Post Graduate studies in USA and Canada.
Biologist Blas Silva is one of the first scientific in our country in carrying out studies about seaweed, artichoke, graviola, olive, shark’s cartilage, propoleo, aloe vera, noni, among other natural products. It is important to remark that the Peruvian Ministry of Agriculture distinguished this important researcher for avoiding extinction of Puya de Raimondi.

The work of this renowned professional has been recognised by different institutions: San Marcos National University that gave him the “Gold Medal” in recognition for his research on medicinal plants; the prestigious Peruvian Association of Chartered Biologists that nominated him “Advanced Biologist”; similarly he was decorated as “Illustrious Member” of the Biological Sciences Faculty of the San Cristobal de Huamanga National University in Ayacucho, and has received the International Prize for Quality 2005, given by the Peruvian Association of Chartered Journalists, institution which has also designated him as Honorary Member. He was also recognised as the “Best Biologist of Peru”, in the frame of The Best of 2005, receiving the Gold Medal, Diploma of Honour and Silver Biretta, given by the National Rectors Assembly, the Peruvian Association of Doctors in Education, the Peruvian Association of Journalists, the Departmental Council of Lima, the Civil Society Teaching Values, The Peruvian Association of Journalist, the Magazine University & Business and other journalist associations in the country.
Nowadays Biologist Blas Silva, in his position as General Director of Laboratorio Algas Marinas, continues doing research on the main actives and properties of medicinal plants for human beings´ benefit, creating over the base of his investigations natural treatment to alleviate various ailments, which is proved by uncountable testimonies.
Biologist Blas Silva provides added value to the renewable and cultivable natural resources that Peru has, with the objective of placing Peru as one of the world potencies in natural medicine in short term.
